MALLORCA - MAJORCA

Welcome to Sineu – one of the most beautiful medieval towns in Mallorca,
delightfully located on a small hill in the centre of
Many of the historic buildings in the town still show traces of
the ancient
times – the town hall (worth a visit itself to see the ancient
cloisters, the ‘Gigantes’ – giant models representative of local
trades; and an exhibition of photographs depicting late 19th century
Sineu). The parish church is the largest on the island and dates back
to the 13th century as does the palace built by King Jaume II in
1309 for his residence when for a period Sineu was the capital of
Sineu offers a multitude of eating places including cellar restaurants serving dishes such as lechona (traditional roast suckling pig). Amidst other restaurants within the old town you will find a creative Tapas Restaurant which serves great cocktails as well! In the main marketplace there are a myriad of café bars plus a great Bistro. The three hotels in town offer more international fare: The Hotel Leon has a delightful garden in summertime, as does the Restaurant Moli d'en Pau. Close to the rail station is a Grill Restaurant and a superb Pizzeria, whilst at the International Sports Centre you will find various activities available - as used by young Rafael Nadal.
Many fiestas and fairs are held throughout the year upholding the traditions of the Mallorquians. Although many of these do not finish until the early hours of the morning, it is a real pleasure to be just 3km away!
